Swiching broadband suppliers using the One Touch Switching system therefore switches both services. Most ISPs including Sky only charge for outgoing calls made on the landline and can transfer the phone number but do check that..

Using a comparison site like USwitch will give a list of providers after a postcode with prices. A basic broadband and phone package should be around £25 but start to include extras like a call pakage etc will make prices go up.

@Janner74
Unless your parents have recently changed the subscription, prices go up for either the annual price increase (April in the UK) or when their discounts have ended (or a combination of the two).

Sky will have told them them the date any discount was ending when they took it out so if it has ended they will be paying the full undiscounted price.

Perhaps they can compare a previous bill to the latest bill and see where the amounts differ
www.sky.com/bill.

If they're no longer in a discounted minimum term the best new discounts are normally acquired by calling Sky and negotiating or potentially amending the package which will now require a 24 month minimum term contract. Sky are not obliged to offer them another discount, and recent posts on here indicate that significant discounts are now harder to come by. If they are offered something acceptable be prepared to agree to it there and then because if they decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when they call back.

@Janner74 wrote:

If they change broadband provider they can keep watching Sky TV although Sky may offer a better discount if they also subscribe to Sky broadband too.
