Moving into a new place which already has Sky

Hi all,

I'm moving into a new flat which is on Sky already.

What is the easiest way to take over the existing service setup? When I look to purchase a broadband deal with Sky, it tells me the engineer won't be able to come until 2 weeks time.

Why would I need an engineer to come over if the house is already using the exact same Sky service that I am looking to purchase?

Can this not be avoided? Or is there another reason the engineer comes over?

@eatChoco The people that are in the property just now with Sky if they are taking their services with them will be looking to do a home move to their new property and thus you will have to wait to order Sky until this process has been completed.

The place has been vacant for a few months but the landlord kept the contract going. So definitely not the previous tenants taking the service with them 😞

I was hoping I could just tell Sky to switch the existing service to my name instead of restarting the whole process - is that not possible? Would be easier, quicker, and cheaper for them to do that?

@eatChoco Sky don't allow transfer of accounts.

Not possible (and actually not permitted by Ofcom due to the risk of account hijacking and malicious disconnection)
