ONT CABLE

Hello. I am due to be connected to Sky broadband in two days. My ONT cable doesn't fit my ONT though. The box looks too old for the new cable I have been sent. Please help. How do I delay my activation until this is resolved?

Are you actually looking at an ONT?

Note that some (obsolete) VDSL modems look similar to some older ONTs.

Hi. I think it is an ONT. It looks like the first model in your link. It is a small square box fixed to my internal wall by the previous owners with POWER, LOS, PON, LAN at the top and 'Openreach' at the bottom.

Thanks. I was wanting to delay the activation day until this was resolved otherwise I will have no internet. Does the ONT I described sound old? Maybe too old for the new ONT cable? If so, his do I get a new ONT installed?

@ncrhk From the picture is it the Nokia ONT, look again at the link sent, standard RJ45 Ethernet cable, unless sky just sent you the wrong box!

Yes, that's an ONT.

All ONTs have at least one ethernet port, and all ethernet ports are an international standard size to fit an RJ45 plug on an ethernet cable.

Hi. It's not the Ethernet cable. It's the power cable SKY sent me doesn't fit the ONT box.

@ncrhk Why is sky sending you a power cable for the ONT, that is not the responsibility for SKY to do, if the power cable was missing when you moved in then getting a new or replacement for that is for sky to organise with OR the owner off the ONT, If you have the wrong power plug and the barrel connector does not fit, then you have to call sky and have them deal with it for you. Size for the ONT is 2.1mm (inner) x 5.5mm (outer) and centre positive +12V D.C.

Did you previously report a missing ONT power cable to Sky? They typically wouldn't send one out.
