My roofer needs to cut my over head telephone line coming in from the telegraph pole on the street to finish my roof, would this impact my internet/wifi? Do I need it anymore? And who would I contact to reattach back to the house if I need to?

Can't seem to find any information on whether I need it or not now days.

My roofer needs to cut my over head telephone line coming in from the telegraph pole on the street to finish my roof,

Note that doing so is essentially illegal.

would this impact my internet/wifi?

Unless you have another connection, then yes.

Do I need it anymore?

Domestic terrestrial broadband requires either copper cable or optical fibre arriving at the address.

And who would I contact to reattach back to the house if I need to?

Sky would book Openreach (in the UK) who won't be happy about repairing intentional damage inflicted on their network.

Can't seem to find any information on whether I need it or not now days.

Unless you are using cellular data or something exotic like satellite broadband then a cable is still required.

Note that where broadband over copper (ADSL, FTTC and G.fast) has been replaced by broadband over fibre (FTTP) then the copper line is redundant but the fibre optic cable may also be arriving overhead and so care is still required to identify which is the relevant connection.

It's also not legal to cut even a redundant line at a property if it then falls into public space from the pole.

Thanks for your reply. How would I know if it arriving over head or underground, whether the cable is redundant or not?

They will not be letting it fall.. it needs moving a meter to the left that's all. Do you think we could move it with our disturbance? Then await bt

I've contacted bt but they don't have a fast response time and my roof is open. And sky don't seem to have any information on it.

Sorry I do think it's in use because we have a junction box on it to the house that we've had installed once apon a time.

So we are just going to move it for the time being and then I'll have to wait patiently for sky and bt to come and apply it in its new correct position in the near future.

Thanks for your help.
