We cancelled VM TV and broadband as the bill was getting too expensive, the sky commission chasing salesperson said they were able to do a deal £30 cheaper. We've had a review twice, had a white line sprayed outside and then the new reason for the delay is because they need permission from the council to dig up the path outside of the house?

The Sky broadband checker said it was available in our house so we switched from virgin. Its been 3 weeks and we still have no hub, (some sort of stock issue). So far its cost £60 between the household using our mobile hotspots. But yet the site still tries to make you sign up saying its available. Surely this is illegal....

3 weeks isn't unusual. My son signed up for Sky Full Fibe on 23 November, hub delivered on 12 December and activated on 17 December.

The checker mines into the BT Wholesale lookup database to indicate whether broadband is potentially available at an individual address, and is an offer to attempt to supply. Particularly for FTTP it doesn't necessarily mean the necessary infrastructure is already in place there.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

@Grrrrr1 short answer is no its not plug and play as construction of any kind rarely is and while most installs go smoothly some dont. Last week a poster reported a 7 month delay my own delay was around 8 weeks. There is compensation payable for late provision see Customer Auto-Compensation | Sky Help | Sky.com

Normally this is not an issue as under the One Touch switching system Sky would liaise with Virgin and your old service would have remained in place until the new service is installed but as apparently you cancelled the Virgin service yourself that doesn't apply.
