Win10 PC can't see network

I've just upgraded our Sky Broadband fibre from 150 to 900. Received the new Max hub, connected it this morning. I changed the network name and password to match the old router so we didn't have to reconfigure all the devices. Everything has connected to the new router (about 20 devices) without a problem. But one device, a windows 10 desktop PC cannot see the network. It detects the neighbours networks, I can connect it to a mobile hotspot to get online but the PC won't see the WiFi network at all. It is the only device in the house with this problem. I have followed all the Microsoft and Sky instructions through the MySky app. TCP/IP stack has been reset, IP released and renewed, DNC client cache flushed, etc. Could the PCs wireless adaptor be incompatible with the new router? Surely there's backwards compatibilty? How do I check? Please help.

@PAB05 If the PC's wirless card is 2.4ghz only it may have difficulty finding the combined 2.4/5Ghz wifi signal the Max hub puts out or it may not like the WPA3 encryption in whcih case you'd need to put the hub in WPA2 encryption, see step 3 of this guide https://www.sky.com/help/articles/connecting-older-devices-to-sky-max-hub

A bit of Googling would seem to suggest that my ASUS PCE-N15 11n wireless LAN PCI-ae card only supports up to WPA2.

So I changed the WiFi security setting to WPA2 and.... Same problem. Still can't see the network.

@PAB05 if the PC card does support 802.11n as its.name implies itshould becable to connect to the white Sky Max hub's dualband SSID but its worth updating the drivers. If it still wont while unfortunately you cannot split the two WiFi bands on these hubs however try temporarily disabling the 5GHz band connecting the PC and then switching the 5GHz band back on and hope it remains connected.

Beyond that perhaps its time to buy a USB WiFi adapter which are not expensive?

That sounded like a good plan but sadly it didn't work in this case.

Security set to WPA2, 5GHz band disabled.

PC still wont see the network.

Thinking my only option is to blindly buy a new WiFi adaptor and hope that works.

@PAB05 Have you tried wps to connect the Max router with your Asus NIC, it does support wps mode connection worth a try.

There is no WPS button on the PCI-e adaptor sadly

@PAB05 Are you sure it is an Asus nic, the older models had both Hardware and software WPS functions.

Yes, I can confirm it is an ASUS PCE-N15 wireless LAN card (802.11 g/b/n).

It was purchased with the PC in February 2018 so it is getting on a bit now.

I'd come to the same conclusion, just ordered one. Should come tomorrow.

@PAB05 As recommended may have to get new updated card, but you are sure that there is no wps button just above the led's on the card?

Very sure. Just two LEDs.

Even found the quick start guide for it and the it doesn't show or mention any WPS button.

Happy to say that a new wifi adaptor fixed the problem.

I'm guessing the old adaptor just couldn't cope with the more modern protocols and security.
