Unless an existing ONT has inadvertently been removed by the previous occupant: in such a case you'd need to call Sky to book replacement by Openreach. There's hopefully a short length of optical fibre with a green rectangular jack plug left behind.

Hey,

Just ordered the upgrade to FTTP and was told I'd be sent a 'conversion kit' for my router.

What's arrived is just a short Cat5e ethernet cable.

Is that it?

If so I wish they'd have said, I've a drawer full of ethernet cables and the one they've sent isn't going to reach.

@Resident1

Where a subscriber is already using a Sky Broadband Hub or Max Hub for FTTC or ADSL, the 'conversion kit' facilitates connection of the WAN port (eth #4) on the Hub to the ethernet port on the ONT to receive FTTP.

ISPs always supply whatever they consider to be a standard length cable, and it's up to the customer to source a longer one if needed.

Thanks for that reply.

Sorted through my drawer of cables and found a Cat7.

Over kill for any home network but it'll be well within any limits.

I wish they had said too... not because I have a longer cable, but because (1) the leaflet implies there should be a "signed for" box not received, and (2) I've just spent ages asking the virtual assistant questions - how ever I phrase my question, it loops back to the first thing I said I didn't want to know about - aah well - irritating.
