I tried to connect the wifi router in this wall socket but I am not sure if this will work. Our wifi will go live tomorrow. The ethernet cable and I turned on the wifi router. Please tell that the wifi will work tomorrow.

Hello, I have a big problem. Recently moved into a newly built flat. The ONT box is in the same room as the laundry room. I won't be able to install our broadband router and put it on top of the washing machine due to health and safety.

The ONT box is on the right handside.

Can you please help me as we need wifi?

Wifi is going to be activated on the 4th of April.

How about wall mounting it? They are available on ebay/amazon etc and would solve the issue. Just check where to drill looking at those walls. The other option is the flat looks like it has been cabled for a wired network (just above the ONT). If it is all connected, just put the ONT lead into the wall and then put the router in the lounge or wherever there is a network point.

Link the ONT to the port and the hub to the other port at the other end and it should work without drilling holes . Stupid location for the ONT in the first place.

You can use the LAN LED on the ONT to confirm when you have the correct port, as that will light/flash when you have a physical connection.

But it would be better to connect the router directly to the ONT until you've confirmed your service is active. Then move it.

@FLC makes a good suggestion. Connect the router direct to the ONT for a day or so to make sure all is working before moving elsewhere.

The ONT in the cupboard has it's connections on the left hand side facing the back wall and it's the yellow socket that the cable goes into. Once it all works, you will need another Cat5e / 6 ethernet cable to go from the ONT to the wall socket with 4 square holes (above the ONT) and use the one Sky provided in the other room. Amazon has loads of choice.

https://www.openreach.com/content/dam/openreach/openreach-dam-files/images/fibre-broadband/fibre-for-developers/guides-and-handbooks/mar-2021-update/10-ONT-factsheet-Mar-21.pdf

Only other suggestion is to hang the router via the network cable in the cupboard so it's away from the washing machine. Odd that you have a tenacy with no ability to mount anything.
