I have just noticed exactly the same on mine . The only difference is a number 2 on the end . I thought it may be dodgy but not sure now

I have recently seen a new wi-fi connection appearing on my available networks, with an almost identical name.

My wifi name is similar to the following: SKYASDFG, but I now see that connection and another one with exactly the same name but with a number 2 added on the end: SKYASDFG 2

Not sure if this is something I need to be concerned about?

Any advice gratefully accepted.

GC

@Anonymous most likely explanation is someone has split the 2 wifi bands on your hub to connect a device tgat doesn't like dualband SSIDs. Is thatva possibility?

Thanks Chrisee,

None of us in this house would know how to do that, but lots of devices now seem to make chnages automatically, so perhaps that is what has happened.

GC

@Anonymous no to split wifi bands has to be done manually. However some devices can act as wifi hot spots so that is a possibility as while Sky Q boxes do that they use the same SSID.

The culprit is almost always either that someone has manually split your two WiFi bands (2.4ghz & 5ghz) or you have a 3rd party WiFi extender somewhere in the house
