TP Link axe75 settings to replace sky hub for 500mb FTTC connection

I have FTTC and am on sky 500 package and looking to replace the sky hub and connecting the AXE75 router directly to the openreach modem.

Anyone know the settings?

@Kully1972 not an ideal choice of router as TP-Link do not support Sky's normal authentication system DHCPv4 Option61 so you will need to try DHCPv6 PD which most but not all lines will support.

Note you do not have FTTC which is partial fibre if you have an ONT you have full fibre FTTP.

So I have FTTP!

I`ll try th TP link settings with a connection from the modem to the WLAN port and see how it goes

Should this fail I`m likely to get an Asus router with merlin software which dhould do the trick!

I'm being connected to sky fibre next week on Friday.

The router has all the settings done so hoping I'm ok.

I thought I'd give an update.

TP LINK AXE75 connects fine!

However my speeds are alot slower approx 80 mb/s compared to 300 mb/s.

I might need to play with qos settings and switch it off.

Most asus rt ax routers don't require asus merlin to be flashed.

Certainly qos could be a culprit but so could ethernet cable and/or older ethernet adapter settings

What site are you using to measure the speed , are all ethernet cables at least cat 5e and what device are you using

I'm using DHCPv6 settings

I'm not sure there is a v4 option

@Kully1972 you will have both an IP4 and a IP6 connection as Sky provide both. It is the authentication of the connection that is being done using DHCPv6 PD.

Many thanks Chrisee for correcting me.

I havnt had time to resolve the speed issue and have reverted to using the sky hub owing to being just too busy.

I may try attempting to hook up the TP link this eve and see if speeds stabilise and turn QOS off and see if it makes a difference.

Problem is I'm moving again in 2 months and will definitely be using the TP Link then.

How did you get on?

I've finally ditched the sky router and have been happily using the tp link.

The speeds are ok but I think I have a driver issue for my intel WiFi card on PC.

WiFi 6E is running but not even being detected on PC.

The tp link is less prone to drop outs and no longer gets buffering on my TV.

I'm glad in the end to have bought the TP Link in the end!

I have Sky Q TV but Virgin Media internet and Virgin contract is ending end of March and plan to switch to Openreach FTTP.

Sky are offering 300Mbs for £27 and 500Mbs for £29. As you know the price increaes by £3 from April 1st so I am waiting till end of March before take a 24months so no £3 increase until April 2026.

From what I read Vodafone has no issues with 3rd party router and similar price too so still deciding if play safe with Vodafone or take a gamble with Sky.
