Hello all

We just moved into a new house with Sky fibre. The router is a Technicolor DGA0122 and the modem is a BT Openreach thing that connects to the router via the WAN socket.

Was having some issues with the router so tried a factory reset and now everything has gone horribly wrong. After restarting the Broadband light goes green but everything else is red.

Manged to access the admin page and noticed that the PPPOE was failing with an authentication error. Was able to get this connected to the Internet by using the default skydsl username and a default password. I found online Now the PPPOE connects correctly, it has a WAN IP address and the Internet light and status light on the router all both green. Enabled the wifi and DHCP and now all lights are green and devices can logon to the router via wifi.

But no devices are able to access the Internet. I tried running nslookup and the DNS is failing. I tried configuring the DNS servers on the router to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 and confirmed using Ipconfig that these were set on the client . But still no DNS (presumably because it cannot access the Internet for the lookup).

I guess there's stil something wrong with the configuration but a week later and still waiting for a helpful response from Sky. Does anybody have any experience with this router and/or can they suggest any configuration options that might cause this?

Slowly losing the will to live so any help would be very much appreciated.

Mark

@kerneldude that router does not appear to support the required DHcPv4 Option61 authentication that Sky uses in the UK. It is possible that that the alternate DHCPv6 PD system might work but it's down to luck if the exchange supports that. The provided Sky hub would be a better choice in the short term. If you decide you need a third party router there are better choices such as the range from Asus.

Sky decline to support third party routers so the forum is the best place to ask.

Hello and thanks for the response.

The Internet in our house is provided by the landlord. When we moved in the Internet was working but some devices wouldn't connect to the WIFI. Per a recommendation on another forum we did a factory reset on the router but I hadn't realised this was 3rd party router and the configuration has now been lost.

I did come across an article at https://www.nealuk.com/sshuci.html which suggested how we might enable DHCP option 61 but this requires SSH access ti the device and none of the suggested username/passwords seem to work

What's really odd is that by setting the default credentials on the PPPOE config I was able to clear the error lights on both the openreach box (I assume this is a modem?) and the router and the router is now able to connect and get a WAN IP. Just the connected devices (either ethernet or wifi) that can't 🤔

Cheers

Mark

@Chrisee wrote:

@kerneldude that router does not appear to support the required DHcPv4 Option61 authentication that Sky uses in the UK.
