The Max router doesn't support Q & is much worse than the SR203 for native WiFi coverage. Just have a look at how threads on these forums are complaining about them. I can think of no reason for "upgrading".

I was supplied one but bought an SR203 from Ebay & use that. .

I can see that WiFi Max is supposidly offered to most customers now, previously wasn't able to select it due to having a Q box and mini box. My question is A) does this now support Q boxes with mini boxes? and B) i'm on the max package i.e. gigabit, with the SR203 router - would the max router improve my wireless connections throughout the house, or is there no real point? I've heard that the SR203 isn't suitable for gigabit but seem to get varying info online.

Actually Q television works as expected with a Max Hub acting as a router for internet access: what Max doesn't have is the proprietary 'Q mesh'.

Given the time that has passed, i have checked today and seem to now be able to order the WiFi Max 'Upgrade' - i'm assuming it is now compatible with Sky Q unlike previously (i also have 1 mini box which is in the room directly above the main Sky Q box. Also, has the performance of this router improved compared to previous poor reviews?

The current layout i have is a Sky Q box in the living room, the router relatively close and connected, via ONT, with gigafast. I also have a hard wired RJ45 going from the router to the upstairs into bedroom 1 for a signal booster and a sky mini box in bedroom 2 (directly above living room). *bedroom 1 and 2 are actually one single room split so both are esentially above the living room and bedroom 3 is the other side of the house*

That's correct: strictly speaking the Max Hub was always compatible as a router.

Also, has the performance of this router improved compared to previous poor reviews?

There are still individual posts, but without knowing the number being deployed it's very difficult to know if that's an unexpected proportion.
