There could be a technical issue causing a slow down why do you think its throttling?

@Gorge2016 The speed test in the app are run at regular times the figure is simply the result of the last test. The connection check is annoying as it doesn't pick up,a connection is down until the hub does not renew its IP lease.

If you have a black hub post its coonnection stats as they can show what is going on see Sky Hub statistics

Throttling...Yes! Sky throttled my broadband to the minimum speed it has ever been in the last two years... and then told me it is the maximum I can receive. A bold-faced lie,...you only have to look at my internet history speeds to confirm. They wanted me to sign a new contract at this rate.

@skybutt your connection speeds maybe slower but zero chance Sky are deliberately throttling speeds.as you assert. It would technically be difficult to do and if proven Ofcom would be down on them like a ton of bricks. However there are legitimate technical reasons why speeds drop.

The most common issue is where you have a partial fibre line then the speed that your hub can connect at is controlled by the length and the ccondition of the copper phone line. After what has been a very wet winter many of these lines are not performing well and can only operate at lower speeds. Copper cables thst can be decades old, high frequency electrical signals and water do not mix well so a dodgy joint, or simple age can reduce thecspeed the line can deliver. Openreach who own the network Sky uses are limiting the work their engineers can do to sort these issues as the copper network has a limited life as it is being replaced by full fibre in the next few years..

If Sky have offered to release you from contract you can switch to another provider but note the speed limitstion is the line so switching to any other isp using the same line will give you the same connection speed whstever their checkers say it is simple physics. If you have access to a different network like Virgin Media look into using that or consider mobile broadband.

Why do I think it is throttling? My internet history explains my reasoning.

"There could be a technical issue causing a slow down..." Yes, there could be a technical issue but if there is...they will refuse to investigate because they have given me a NEW minimum speed guarantee. of 16Mbits, which is where it rests now. So, to them it is working perfectly.

Openreach refuse to do anything about the issue and cannot be forced to do so. It is frustrating but nobody is doing anything intentional.
