Internet being very intermittent

Since the start of the year our Internet has been very intermittent it's on and the nothing then it will come back on again. But this weekend 18th & 19th of January it's been on and off every five minutes, which is very frustrating when your online gaming or streaming tv. I'm out of contract with sky and was thinking of renewing, but if this is how the Internet is going to be, I'll be looking else where, which would be a shame after being a loyal customer for so long.
