January 2027 is the revised target date for PSTN switch off: all non-capable routers will have to be gone by then.

Q Hubs need to depart before then, and ideally as fast as possible as they already don't meet the legislative requirements for routers under the UK Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act (2024)

The manufacturer must not supply devices that use default passwords, which can be easily discovered online, and shared

Hi All

I have a nowtv broadband account. I'm using the 'nowtv broadband legacy hub 2'.

I understand that new nowtv members get a Sky broadband Hub. I wanted to to know if I can update to the same.

I understand that this upgraded router has a greater number of internal antennas.

I'm some slight dropout and might see some improvement using the upgrade hub

thanks

@jhhgkjkgkjkhg

The Now Hub 2 is a Sky Q Hub: that's a 2016 model (and the Now Hub 1 is a Sky Hub from 2013)

Since then Sky has had the Broadband Hub (2019) and Max Hub (2023)

Unfortunately if you are a Now customer, Sky Broadband isn't going to issue you one of those.

Now does need to replace all its Hub 1 and 2 units this year because they can't support internet calls after PSTN ends, and don't meet the new UK internet security standards because they have fixed weak local administrator credentials.

thanks for the info. I had a look at the timeline for PSTN and looks like it doesn't comes into force until 2027........so do you still think that nowtv will still update their routers this year?

thanks
