The additional monthly cost is for the WiFi Max service, of which booster loan is a part (alongside Parental Controls and supposedly enhanced internet security)

That's the Sky business model, and was the same for the previous Broadband Boost product.

I am not getting the guaranteed minimum speed throughout my property and internet drops completely for about 20 secs on a regular basis.

i have already received one booster and wonder if I need another as live in a townhouse (3 story) or if an engineer needs to have a look

If you claimed under the WiFi Max subscription supplement, I believe an engineer visit is required to receive up to two more booster pods after the first is despatched. Realistically you might not now get an appointment until into the new year.

I switiched to sky BB last week and have the same issue. They told me that i will have to take a monthly subscripton for 4£ a month in addition for skymax which could increase anytime. They would send 3 boosters and an engineer would also pay a visit to troubleshoot. But i think it is just being dishonest with the cutomer, they never tell you upfront that even when you subcribe for thier so called fastest plan, you wouls still need to pay extra montly to get that spped. This adds up to alsmost 50£ a year, so technicalluy boosters are not free and there is no skymax plan, its just we paying for the same plan and buying the boosters. Virgin gives the boosters for free and no monthly charges either.
