Sky Q Hubs (internet routers) don't meet the relatively new national standard for internet access devices because they have weak fixed default administrator credentials, so Sky needs to withdraw them from service in the coming year.

They also don't support Sky Talk Internet Calls, so couldn't continue in use past PSTN switch-off.

I have received a new Sky hub max when I moved recently but my Q box is only 18 months old. Should I change it or send it back? I read Sky Q box are obsolete in 2025 is this correct?

@Hawkins67 Sky Q does have a limited future as the satellites themselves are not expected to last much after 2030 but Sky have a deal with their owner up until then so presumably Sky Q should be around until that date. There are clear indications Sky will switch to streaming and stop selling Q at some point but no announcements have been made about 2025.

Sky Q still works with the white hub but they are not designed to work together as they were with the older black hubs so for example the Q boxes cant work as wifi extenders. The Sky Stream service is some what different as it cannot record locally like the Q boxes. I find it works well for me but check it out as the channel list is different.
