LAN stops working when ps5 switched off.

Use my ps5 via lan connection. Whenever I turn it on, it takes a few seconds to connect to the internet. This is only a problem with automatic updates. My previous provider always had a signal via LAN. Now on occasion, I boot up the ps5 and have to wait for a download to happen. This is more frustrating as I only have a slow connection.

Any ideas how I can ensure the LAN port stays operational?

When you say switched off do you mean in rest mode? A PS5 will never connect to the internet if its completely switched off.

Are you able to test whether you get the same behaviour when its only on WiFi?

E.g. Disconnect the LAN cable, connect the PS5 to your WiFi, then put it in Rest mode and see if it stays connected

Hello! Connects immediately from rest mode when on WiFi. I'm lost as to why the LAN port appears to just shut down when the ps5 goes to rest mode..

What appears to be a relevent Playstation page says:

To turn the networked standby modes for PS5™ on or off:

Go to Settings > System > Power saving > Features Available in Rest Mode; then check/uncheck the option titled “Stay Connected to the Internet”.
Go to Settings > System > HDMI; then check/uncheck the option titled “Enable HDMI Device Link”.
From the home screen, select Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates and then turn on “Auto-Download” or “Auto-Install” in Rest Mode.

Note: If none of the functions available in Rest mode on PS5™ are selected, the system will power down to “off” mode (the standard regulatory standby mode).

Hi! Thanks for the reply! It appears that all of those items are already checked in the correct way. I have changed the HDMI link, and am now testing that as it wasn't clear wether it should be on or off.

Hi, did you ever find a fix for this? My ps5 also disconnects from wired connection when in rest mode and i cant wake it using my ps portal or remote play. It works fine on wifi though

Hi, sorry I didn't. But I still able to wake the console with remote play, not sure how it all works. It does occasionally still download patches, but then sometimes it doesn't.

You definitely leaving the console in rest mode?

Yeah its definitely in rest mode and works perfectly on wifi but as soon as i use a wired ethernet connection it disconnects as soon as i put it into rest mode, not allowing me to wake it via remote play until I manually turn on the console and allow it to connect to the internet again

Hi guys

I have same issue with PS5 / portal albeit with the WiFi connection on BT router.

When i go to my router settings it actually indicates my PS5 is NOT connected when in rest mode (despite all features allowing this are enabled). Check this as it may be a PS5 problem which i am investigating

Mine seems to have fixed itself, i also had the issue of the ps5 showing as not connected in my router settings when in rest mode but only when using ethernet. I left it plugged into the ethernet for a few days and the issue now seems to be sorted. Its now stays connected and i can turn it on using my ps portal

Mines still the same left it for days but it still disconnects in rest mode hade to dissconect the LAN and gone back to WiFi 🤦🏻‍♂️
