topic Booster issues in Broadband

The connected light on my booster keeps going orange and red. The power and WiFi lights are green. Is this an issue. I run the service status on my sky app and everything always shows as green. But my WiFi freezes when on calls and I'm sat with my laptop next to the booster

That's an inappropriate location for a booster: it's intended to be halfway between the router (Hub) and the location with inadequate coverage.

They aren't really 'boosters' at all (being no more powerful than any other wireless hardware) : a better description would be 'repeater' or 'relay'.

Thank you.

I'm not physically sat next to it, but its approx 1.5m from my laptop. The booster is upstairs which the area which struggles.

Would you know why the light for connected keeps going orange and red and what I should do?

Thanks

@jenwarren2016

Probably because it's right on the edge of the range of the Hub, which would be why the WiFi is weak there in the first place.

That's the point I made above: a booster is no use if it's too far away from either end of the link, and a midpoint location is what they really need.

If there's nowhere suitable upstairs, try downstairs but below the laptop.
