Thank you. We're in - there's an unusual device not pinging conntected and we dont' know what it is. I can't find it using a mac look up.

Do you know of a way of finding out what it is using the ivp4 or 6 details at all?

A lot of modern devices, particularly smart phones, generate a random MAC when they connect, so not recognising the MAC address means nothing today.

@SwankyOrc if you think that a device you dont own is connected by WiFi simple change the password. Most times this happens because someone has given a neighbour the log in details. True hacking of WPA2 while possible is very rare as it requires a lot of effort for minimal rewards on a domestic connection and there are hugely easier way for criminals to make money.

However as mentioned the various privacy options on modern operating systems can randomise mac addresses to prevent tracking. The device identification system Sky uses on its new Sky Max hub is quite clever but is not 100% accurate in my experience.
