Hi. Thanks for the response. They currently have basic broadband and are moving to something called WIFI Max. The email says it will be a remote switch over. I'm hoping everything will work after the remove switch over for the days I'm not around.

Broadband Activation

Hi there. Just after some advice. My parents recently renewed their contract with Sky to get a better price and part of the renewal involved moving onto different broadband. As I understand they will no longer have line rental. The activation date is when I'm away and they don't have the capacity to switch routers, enter new passwords etc themselves. I am worried they will be without a phone, broadband or TV for the days after activation until I return from my business trip. Does anyone know if their current services will continue to work after activation? Once I'm back I can plug in their new router etc but I'm worried about the in-between. Thanks.

If the switch involves fitting a new fibre line the engineer fittingbthecservice should set up,their new hub and connect at least one device. However if the switch does not involve a change in line the old hub should continue working.

Tthey might get hassled to return the old one but Sky usually dont bother for the first few weeks.
Thank you for your help. I was hoping it would all still work until I am back to swap the hubs over. Do you think the TV and phone should be OK as well?

If the television (or an attached device) uses internet connectivity then these will need to be taught the new WiFi credentials.

Swapping to new broadband typically involves plugging a phone handset into the rear of the ISP router and all telephone sockets at the property ceasing to function, which can be distinctly problematic for older users.
