topic WiFi not working but light is on in Broadband

My broadband connection suddenly stopped working on Friday afternoon. Sky replaced the router today but it's still not working. When I try and connect my phone to the WiFi (the WiFi light is on but the internet light isn't, on the new router) I get an error that makes me think there's something wrong with the landline/phone connection. The engineer won't be able to visit till next Monday - is there any guarantee that they're able to fix a phone issue? I'm worried that if it's a phone line issue they'll simply fob me off and say they can't fix it. Has anyone had a similar issue? I work from home and have been without WiFi all weekend and the prospect of another 8 days of sitting in cafes does not appeal but it's more palatable if you know the issue will indeed be resolved,
