Thanks - thinking about connecting one XT8 in AP mode to the sky router (with the sky router connected to the ONT) and then a second XT8 on AP mode in the home office.

If I put these on different channels would that work?

Third party router upgrade

Hi, I have sky ultra with 900mbps on entry to the house. My sky router is handling around 18 WiFi connected devices and is struggling with the demand - I work from home and the bandwidth often drops out - usually getting only 15mbps (although that's also via a VPN). Other devices are only getting 150mbps at best and the LAN seems iffy and unstable.

So, long story short I'm looking to upgrade to a third party router - currently looking at the Asus ZenWiFi AX (XT8).

Any thoughts? Or better options?

I also have Sky Q boxes around the house so not only need a good router to handle the wifi connections but also need to support the mesh network for the Q boxes. Ethernet isn't an option as the entry point and router are at the bottom of the stairs by the front door.

Thanks.

No non-Sky wireless hardware can 'support the mesh network for the Q boxes': only the Sky Q Hub, Sky Broadband Hub and their matching Sky wireless boosters do that.

Q Mini boxes have to be connected by ethernet to non-Sky mesh nodes or wirelessly to Sky boosters which are themselves connected to those nodes by ethernet.
