I'd note previous posts indicate problems with Linksys and Sky Broadband because the first mesh node really wants to be the only router.

Hello,

I used a Linksys mesh system for several years outside UK. I recently got Sky installed in my house and tried to install my mesh system but I get no internet connection on the nodes. I am absolutely rubish in technical jargon and cannot understand what I need to do when I read the different threads on the same subject.

I connected the node to the Sky hub router with an ethernet cable and got switched off wifi on the sky hub but get no internet connection on the nodes. And I have no idea what else I should do.

Any advice?

Many thanks!

Have you carried out a full factory reset of the Linksys hardware?

Also, where was this purchased and previously used?

At the very least it should be set to UK as a location to avoid unfortunate WiFi interactions.

Hello!

Thanks for your answer but I just don't know how to do full factory reset of the Linksys hardware or set up UK as a location 😞

I bought the mesh system in Hong Kong and used it successfully in Hong Kong and Singapore. In both cases, I had a simple modem (tp-link or similar) set up by the broadband company and I just plugged in the mesh system and all worked straight away.

I've been reading a lot of different things and it is all very confusing.

When you say that "first mesh node really wants to be the only router", you mean that the sky hub is already a router and that is what causes the issue? In this case, should I replace the sky hub by a simple modem?

Thanks!

@Anneconda

A Sky Hub is always a router: they don't have a modem only mode.

Factory reset is typically a software option with a hardware button as fallback.

You definitely don't want to be using far-East WiFi settings in the UK.

Finding a modem to work depends on both the type of Sky Broadband you have and whether the Linksys can authenticate.

Thanks for the clarification ! Basically, even if I disable the wifi on my Sky router, it will never work because there will be a conflict between the hub and the first node (or something like that). And my only option is to buy a simple modem, then. I have fast broadband connected to the phone line. Any advice on the modem I should buy?

Out of curiosity, why can't I use Far-East WiFi settings in the UK? What is so different?

Thanks!

Is your Linksys router set to automatic IP configuration for the WAN?

The WiFi settings for each country are unique due to different regulations and specifictions on bands, frequencies etc that internet connected devices use.
