I phoned Sky about my broadband contract yesterday as it ends next month. Full Fibre is now available in my area and I have booked Full Fibre 150 to be installed on 26th October. However I am in a block of flats but no external junction box has yet been fitted to the building. Do I need permission for this or will they turn up on the day and fit one or before the day? Not sure where I stand with this? I am a director of the block and spoke to another director who agrees this can be done. But the flats are off the pavement down a driveway so not sure if Openreach can just dig up the drive or what this inviolves.

So basically it sounds like it's unlikely to go ahead next week. Sounds like the installer will turn up and won't be able to go ahead. Shame as I am out of contract and don't want to sign up for a new 24 month contract of what I have now if full fibre may be available soon. Do you think an openreach engineer may attend before the date and contact me to say it won't be possible? Should I cancel now or let it go ahead and see what happens? I told the sky advisor I am a bit doubtful about this and was told it wouldn't say they could offer it if they couldn't but they would say that.

Once any individual order is placed for a dwelling unit within the property, the process of carrying out the necessary work should commence: it's just that may well be protracted. There's likely to be contact from Openreach to the management company which is entirely separate to communication relating to the order.

Started the process in October last year as you can see by my post. I actually got my full fibre installation in early December so took about 6 - 8 weeks. Openreach sent three engineers to work out an installation plan which initially they had to abandon and find another route. Once they got it sorted it was quite straightforward and now enjoying 500mb download speeds instead of 55 which I had before!
