Hi, I have sky broadband super fast and wanted to look at upgrading to WiFi max, does this mean a new box will need to be delivered and is it worth it for the faster WiFi?

@RachelLF

The WiFi Max subscription supplement inherently involves use of the white Max Hub.

https://www.skygroup.sky/article/Sky-Broadband-releases-its-most-powerful-WiFi-yet

Only WiFi 6 client devices are likely to benefit from the change (and that's not guaranteed)

If you aren't on 500Mbs or gigabit FTTP then I'd question the value unless you need Parental Controls or booster loan.

Had the WiFi Max box here for several months now, replaced a 2 disc BT Whole Home mesh system used in conjunction with our previous Sky Broadband Hub box.on our 63,3Mb/s Sky broadband connection.

The WiFi itself is no faster (it's still limited to 802.11ax on 5Ghz speeds. However it handles multiple concurrently used devices brilliantly.

Quick rundown of the devices in use, several of which can be going at any one time

3x iPhone (WiFi 6)

2x personal laptop (WiFi 6)

Desktop PC

Ipad

Sky Glass (WiFi 6)

Sky Stream puck (Ethernet)

PS5 (Ethernet)

2 Xbox

Nintendo Switch

Apple TV 4K (1x Ethernet, 1x WiFi)

4x Apple HomePod

NAS drive (Ethernet)

2x work laptops (WiFi & VPN)

Apple Watches, Kindles etc.

We're in a relatively new build house with plasterboard interior walls. The one WiFi Max box, no boosters, handles all of our regular and peak usage without breaking a sweat, even when watching/streaming 4K TV & films. Our previous mesh network occasionally struggled a little and had to be rebooted regularly. No issues so far with WiFi Max.
