Ok... but not sure what that has to do with SKY selling a 1Gb service which actually is a 200Mbps service - that's all I care about here. If I have to go back to Virgin just to make a point of not letting SKY away with this, I will.

I've just ordered sky 1gb and have some reservations about leaving virgin because of the lack of transparency around the actual speeds I'll be getting with sky. Have you gone back to virgin or has sky sorted the speed issue out?

I have gone back to a Virgin home broadband package... but I since found out the cause of the slow speed was not Sky broadbands fault - in the end it was caused by a Linksys router/modem/firewall that was on my network in front of the Sky/Virgin modems acting as firewall, and even though it supposedly had four x 1 gigabit Ethernet ports, for some unknown reason, any traffic going through it was throttled to 200Mbps per port!

I only figured this out after going back to Virgin fibre, and was still getting 200Mbps on that too. Pulled network apart and finally when I removed this Linksys from system, the speed went up to about 900mbps.

I never tried this with the Sky broadband in place but presume that was cause of its trouble too.

Cheers mate, appreciate the response. I'll stick with sky for now as price is very good and see what speeds I get once it's up and running 🤞
