My gut feeling is a neighbour is using the same channel as me, although I have read with my channel setting "auto" this shouldn't be an issue?

I have recently upgraded from Sky Broadband Superfast to Sky Broadband Ultrafast 1 with the hope of getting even faster internet. However, I am finding that my WiFi speed keeps fluctuating during the day with my download speed being as low as 10 on all devices!!! Any ideas please? I wish I'd remained with Superfast 😞

Do the speeds fluctuate on a wired Ethernet connection to a device also, if so it is likely caused by a fault otherwise it is likely wireless interference from neighbourhood wireless systems.

And what ultrafast 1 product are you using, FTTC (telephone socket) G.fast or full-fibre? If on the former please post your router stats.

It's full fibre. I'll check with an Ethernet connection next time it's slow, but I was wondering whether it is interference from neighbours.

That is pretty awful wireless speeds which Sky wireless router are you using, white SR213 or black SR203? And what device are you using to test the wireless speed, make and model number, please?

It can just fluctuate widely. This morning it's up to 100mbps.
It is the black router SR203. To check the speeds I have been using Speedtest on my devices... iPhone and Macbook Pro.

Checking the Sky website it does mention that speeds can change in the first 2 weeks after having an upgrade, so maybe that's it? It is now day 10 since moving to Fibre.

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/fluctuating-speeds-in-your-first-ten-days

That 10-day fluctuation period only applies to G.fast and VDSL2 FTTC, full-fibre doesn't need a settling-in period. My full-fibre went live this week on Thursday with Zen and it is performing at maximum speed even over wireless.

The SR203 is a poor wireless router for full-fibre it would be wise to upgrade to an 802.11ax or better wireless router, eg: Sky WiFi Max is the later standard that has multiple wireless channels that can be used on 5Ghz which SR203 does not, so upgrade the wireless router is my recommendation when in interference prone neighbourhood areas.

@mae-3as an update I rang Sky and they said it is normal for speeds to fluctuate in the first 2 weeks of an upgrade and that it will settle down and give me a minimum speed of 100mbps by the end of this week! I mentioned your router suggestion and they insisted the one I have is acceptable.

Anyway, I guess time will tell!

When Sky say it can fluctuate they mean the ethernet speed. If your ethernet speed is already at the expected level your WiFi likely wont get any better.

If the area around you isnt ideal for WiFi you may find its faster at some parts of the day than others
