One point to consider is that without the Max Hub as the primary router you cannot have 'landline' telephone calls.

I have sky Q but no mini box anymore. Is the sky max hub sufficient or shall I use my own? I'm a gamer in a busy household, by busy I mean mrs and 3 children

For someone who has a busy household & games I would always recommend going towards the route of a 3rd party router.

I upgraded to full fibre last week and it appears i still can't get sky sky max due to sky q main showing on my account even though i am stream now. So would recommend the asus for its adaptive qos and prioritisation. The sky max seems to have a packet prioritisation but appears to be cloud based so not much feedback to enable us to give advice
