It could be external interference.
you may not think you have any interference in the house but anything that gives an electrical current can interfere with your WiFi.

You maybe best to see if you can get a WiFi guarantee visit booked in.

Be warned though you need to make sure the job is booked as that and not another job type as they have a habit of booking a normal engineer as it is quicker. A normal engineer doesn't have the correct equipment to map your home properly

I have been a sky broadband customer for 15 days with a 500 meg speed plan. The wifi fluctuates significantly. It can be 10 one second and 250 the next. Different devices can have a different speed. Sometimes it isn't connecting. I had Virgin before and never had these issues at all. Sky say all looks good from there tests. Thoughts welcome.

Sounds like something maybe causing interference.

keep a note of if anything is turned on when it fluctuates, compared to when its fine?

You could maybe try and log into the hub settings and changing the wifi channel.

@peng12 Many thanks for that. There is no interference from electrical and the house is detached so nothing from a neighbour. I have accessed the router and it is set at Auto 20 MHz for 2.4 GHz and 80 MHz ch. 36 for 5 GHz. Sky has said to keep the latter unless instructed by them. Do have any thoughts on what might be the right combination. Many thanks. D
