Upgrade query about full fiber

the long and short of it

I live with my in laws and I finally convinced them to upgrade to full fiber

my question is the outlets so there is 2 in the house one under where my work computer is and also where the router is but it's near the back of the house (think there might also be 2 others for phones)

would a typical upgrade to full fiber have the engineeer connect to them all or just one cause that might cause a bit of a problem overall namely with the whole work situation

No: FTTP involves installation of an ONT, to which the ISP router connects over a supplied ethernet cable. All existing phone sockets become obsolete, and the installer won't link anything up to existing ethernet cable: the customer has to sort that out themselves.

With a target of 80,000 activations a week in the UK, realistically there's no time or budget for any particularly bespoke solutions.

Ultrafast doesn't use copper wires, it's a whole new fibre cable entering the building. A telephone then plugs into the back of the router.

Your entire exhisting phone wiring in the house will be redundant.

Okay so let me rephrase my question then in a default installation would they replace each one of them in one go or would they only do a singular outlet

I shall rephrase to you also then my question should have been will they only install a singular outlet for which the new network runs to

or would do multiple to replace the ones which as you said would be obsolete

What exactly are you referring to by 'outlets'?

If those are phone sockets then they aren't involved at all, and stop working.

If it's ethernet then it's up to you to patch them into the Hub.

They will install 1 single open reach onto device.

Important to note that FTTP installation doesn't aim to replicate what you have now, but faster. It's fundamentally different technology working on a new topology.

So as I understand it

currently my router is plugged into basically a phone outlet with a filter in it

they come along put in an ONT and test that it's functional

There is an open reach modem by the front door but it's not a full fiber one so I'm guessing they rip that out

the issue comes from the router being plugged into a phone socket on the wall in another room

would thet singuler change be enough to upgrade the house speeed over all or are we going to need to get them to connect up to new ports for which I then plug the ether from my router into

does thst

make more sense?

We're saying that won't happen whether you want it to or not: it's simply outside the scope of the national FTTP rollout.

The ONT is the only external connection point, to which you attach the Sky Hub over ethernet cable (either the short one supplied or a longer one you source yourself)

All other internal network connections and telephone arrangements are up to you to resolve yourself or contract an independent professional to do so.

Once ultrafast full fibre is installed, all of your current phone and internet wiring inside the house will be disconnected from outside. (DEAD).

The only phone socket will be on the back of the router.
