Just very annoyed at sky as I wish I'd kept last router and saved a few pounds as this new one is rubbish!! Thankyou very much for your help👍

Is the PC / Console connected via Ethernet or WiFi? WiFi will always have higher latency which means higher ping and more lag due to different factors including co channel interference and WiFi being half duplex (devices on the network can only send and receive data packets one at a time)

Only way to significantly improve this is to connect via Ethernet which is full duplex. If connecting an Ethernet cable direct from the router isn't possible due to distance and location the next best thing would be to try power line adapters. Something like https://amzn.eu/d/fcJQdMX .

They use the house electrical wiring to send data from point a to point b. Both plugs would need to be on the same ring main to work.
