Recently had Fibre installed and a solid connection of 500mbs via WiFi which is great.

Unfortunately the Ethernet is restricted to 100mbps, I have checked the cable connecting to desktop is Cat 6 and retested with 2 different cables, a cat 6 and a Cat 5e provided by sky.

Originally when the internet was installed the ethernet worked flawelessly for a day or two. Then it seems like the settings have changed on the hub?

I changed devices and this issue is not restricted to my desktop, my smart TV can speed check and receives 300mbps via WiFi and 80-90mbps via ethernet cable.

So far I have tried every port, removed any device from the hub which my upset it.

I have tried a factory reset.

Different devices, different cables and the only outcome I can determine this is a device or settings based issue.

I read that the setting in the router could have changed from Gigafast ethernet to Fast ethernet.

Is there a way to change this via logging (192.168.0.1) into the router setting. As I can't seem to see the option.??

Thanks,

Sam

@spritchard88

If you have a windows desktop you can check the current ethernet port settings and hopefully change them to gigabit as below

to check what speed your card is currently set to :-

Go to the icon of the taskbar
Locate the icon Internet
Press on network and internet settings
Click on Ethernet
Click change adapter options
Double click on Ethernet. There, you get the speed, it can be 100 mbps or 1Gbps. If it is the second, we do not have to do anything, but if it is the first we have to configure the card

Then If you have a windows pc you can change the card settings as below

In the window where the speed was indicated, you have to click on properties
Check that the option Microsoft network clients is marked, if not, do it
Click on set up
We go to Advanced Options
Search Speed & Duplex
Change the value to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex
Accept

At the moment it is only my desktop pc via a Cat 6 cable.

Specs are

5600x

Msi B550 A-Pro

32gb ram

Amd 6700xt

Using the ethernet connection on the motherboard

Thanks for the reply,

The network adapter in my desktop is a Realtek PCIe GbE Family controller. Running the latest drivers.

I have adjusted the setting to 1.0 Gbps full duplex with no difference.

I'm certain this isn't a controller / driver issue within my device, as the 100mbps cap exist between multiple devices. Lead me to believe it's is the device sending. As opposed to recieving.

Is there a way to analyse the speeds given by each Ethernet port on my sky max hub?
