Open reach permission

Hello,

An Sky expert informed me that they can't provide broadband because openreach is waiting for my permission to install the line in my house. How do I give permission? openreach didn't contact me. How do they know it's my house and they can do it? Thanks

That usually means notifying local authority re upcoming works or private wayleave/permission from neighbours for access to their properties in order to carry out work

I've done a search for my address, and the return text is as below.

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Pre built to curtilage Hard.

FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

For all SOADSL services,the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.

In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service

ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.

UG Pre built to curtilage Hard.

So permission would have to be agreed for digging a trench through whatever that hard surface is (typically brick, concrete or tarmac)

UG = underground

Pre built to curtilage = there's an existing duct in public space up to the edge of the property

Hard = as above (so requiring more work than trenching in soil)

Hi @TimmyBGood, thanks for the explanation. I can confirm there is an existing sky connection box and fibre cables from the previous tenants. I was wondering why they still need permission to work document. Don't they have this information that they have existing setup in this property?

What @MParvez93 posted from the BT checker doesn't indicate that there is an ONT already present so Openreach are going to have to dig to provide the service to the property.
