Broadband problems and no Fibre broadband available

Hi, My current broadband isn't adequate- weak signal except when close to the server, drops out regularly and tv buffers. I am moving to Sky as the call centre says that their TV option will reduce the load on the broadband , resulting in better internet performance. The sky TV guy came to fit a Q box today, but couldn't as i dont have a satellite dish (does anyone have a satellite dish nowadays ?) My broadband is being switched to Sky in 2 days time. The basic problem is that i have an old ADSL cable supply with no option to change to fibre. So won't this be the same poor broadband as my current provider?

If ADSL is the only service available at the address then yes, broadband from any ISP can only be equally poor.

Some tens of millions of properties in the UK have had satellite dishes installed over the past three decades: Sky access online through the Glass/Stream platform has been around for less than three years.

@Irid Going by the screenshots you can get superfast broadband and this is much faster than ADSL.

And the predicted speed is close to the maximum for the technology (80/20Mbs) which suggests the fibre cabinet is within a few hundred metres of the address.
