Asus Rx 58u

Morning all

after years of poor performance from my sky hub re wifi ive finially took the plunge and swopped it for a new asus Rt 58u.

Thanks to everyone who has given me advice re the subject.

i can report that its made the workd of differance no more drop outs i now have a steady reliable wifi and internet connection.

sky q works a treat as well.

Having said all that i still have a dead zone in my far room which is at the opposite end of the house to where my new router is positioned.

although my sky q box is in this room its connected perfectly its just things like iphone computers that struggle to connect.

so im going to hard wire a second asus router into that location and use it as a access point or aimesh.

Would I be ok using another Asus Rt 58u in ap/ repeater mode or would I be better off with say a asus Rt ax 86u maybe as the main router and use the Rt 58u as the ap/ repeater

any advice would be appreciated.

Just another question re using a second Asus

as a ap / Aimesh node.

does the second asus need to have the same option 61 set as per the main asus router.

im on sky FTTP using sky q

@Cheshireprowler Connect your 2nd asus WAN connection to the 1st asus on its lan. Use the asus web interface and set the 2nd asus for Asus Mesh control, it will sort out what is required for all of its settings, if auto FW is also on it will upgrade to it also.

No: that option only applies to the WAN port of the device connected to the ONT and doing the internet routing

(Wide Area Network: external internet connection)
