Micro filter / Openreach Box - Photo Attached

Hi all,

Getting ready for broadband activation Monday and a little confused with the box on the wall. No phone will be used, can I plug into the box on the wall (wire in there now is the grey wire given in the Sky hub box just received) and into the back of the hub and it'll work? Or do I need a micro filter? Thanks in advance.

What type of broadband is being activated? Is it full fibre or just regular superfast?

If it's full fibre then you'll be getting a visit from an Openreach engineer to fit a new box on the wall. If it's superfast, which uses the old copper wiring you have there, then you will need a microfilter.

You'll need one that looks like this. It connects to the phone socket you have in your photo and then you connect the RJ11 cable from the purple socket to your Sky hub router. You don't need to put anything in the phone socket on the micro filter.

The cable you've been given by sky is correct, you won't need the micro filter (this is redundant now as you no longer connect landlines to the telephone socket).

Yes: I believe it's actually an RJ11 in an adapter to fit a BT jack socket.

@TimmyBGood You might find they will upgrade the faceplate,had some line work done here recently & engineer fitted a new filtered 5c Mk4 Master Socket in place of a old NTE5c MK2 Master Socket same as in @JRoome photo.

@TimmyBGood It is. Happen to a spare Sky cable which has RJ 11 each end in my desk drawer.

@JRoomeMy current Master Socket 5c Mk4 front is pre filtered, previous faceplate was a NTE 5a master socket or NTE5c with MK2 Faceplates think both were pre filtered if my memory is correct.

It's difficult remembering the different faceplates, there been various styles over the years.

For future reference for anyone else browsing this thread. If you have Digital voice as part of your package you will not require a microfilter
