April - Prince Increase Notification

Hello,

We moved house a week ago from a superfast area to one where Sky can only supply a guaranteed speed of 7 mgbs. We are still being charged for sueprfast. Also, I note from the internet that Sky Broadband customers have 30 days within being notified of the April increase to cancel their broadband package fee free.

However, I can't find any form of notification either by post or email or on my account messages to notify me of the increase, even though it is jumping from £31 to £38 for me on my bill from this month. Have people recieved notification yet? and if so how did you recieve it and how can I ensure I am able to cancel my package (alternate provider offering full fibre and £25 pm for 24 months fixed).

Your price increase notification will have been sent by email.

@htafc23 Sky normally notify by emailing the email address linked to the account but many of these end up in spam folders. Where there isnt an emal address they send a letter these notifications sent at least 30 days before the increase is applied allowing you time to switch if you so want.

You can of course challenge Sky by complaining see How to make a Sky complaint | Sky Help | Sky.com

I've just trawled through again and I had an email from Sky on the 18th of March notifying me of changes to Sky Talk but didn't mention anything else?

It should definitely have been a separate email stating the increases in subscription costs. If you did not recieve it then I would challenge this with Sky.

So your stats show you are still on a superfast FTTC connection but just a very long line hence the speed of only around 10mbps therefore it is correct that you are still being charged for Superfast.

Thanks, I'll try give them a call later today.

As a backup if they pushback on this, obviously I received an email notification and contract in regards to the house move which took place 11 days ago. Does a house move then trigger the 14 day right to cancel period? Or is this only from the start of the initial contract.

That is a good question, I believe there is no 14 day period for a home move although don't quote me on that 😉

Just to update I'm in a chat with the cancellation team.

They've advised the price increase notification emails haven't gone out yet and I should get one in the next couple of days. We shall see I guess. I'm doubtful as seen as I've seen people get theirs on other threads in here 😁

Mine's going up to £46 so I'm off to another provider for £25. 346 is just crazy.

'Superfast' can be FTTC on a 40/10 wholesale band (so from a maximum 40Mbs inbound down to next-to-nothing depending on the distance from the fibre cabinet)

ADSL probably isn't available, and might well actually cost more if it were.

Putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate what's available from any ISP on the national Openreach network.
