Sky Glass - Will it become a router once ethernet cable is connected to it?

Hi. I'm looking at putting a sky glass tv in my garden room with an ethernet cable running from the router in my house down the garden to the back of the sky glass TV. I was wondering if I was to put a firestick into the TV would the firestick run off this same ethernet connection rather than the WiFi from my house?

@Chris1234511 the Sky Glass TV is a simple network client so that wont work. Not 100% certain why you will need a firestick as almost all of the apps are on the TV. However if you definitely do you will need a cheap router like this one configure it to operate in Acess Point mode which is explained here https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1384/ plug the incoming ethernetvcable into one port and connect the TV to another port.

Thanks for your reply it's been really helpful. Will this mean that the firestick will connect through WiFi from the new router that I will have in the garden room? Also hoping to connect an amazon alexa so this would be helpful if that was the case.

It would but that depends what 'Router' you are going to put in your garden room because in this scenario a router is not the appropriate equipment.

Thanks for your reply. As you will have probably guessed I'm a complete novice when it comes to this type of thing. The 'router' is that I've purchased is the one that was recommended to me in a previous reply by someone else. The TP link Archer C6

As @Chrisee indicated in his post, that's appropriate as long as it is manually set to its Access Point (AP) mode. If it is left running in its default router mode it will mess up connections by issuing incorrect DHCP information to client devices.

Personally I suggest it's preferable to use a dedicated access point (or combined AP and ethernet switch) rather than a router.
