Thanks so much, is there any benefit to removing the hub in its entirety?

I know that using the x60 in AP mode you lose some of the functionality.

Will the sky Q box still function correctly if it is not hardwired?

Hi all, I have searched and searched but before I purchase I wanted some advice!

Ive just bought TP link x60 3 pack for mesh at home, WiFi from the hub (I used to have boost) is not good enough.

im FTTC SUPERFAST, the sky mer one!

What do I need to purchase to utilise the mesh fully, as in get rid of the hub, we don't utilise the phone line.

is it enough to get one of the tdw 9970 router/modem or am I best off getting something different. Don't really want to spend more than £100 after dropping £220 on mesh.

I am looking for better WiFi coverage in a 4 bed 60's house hence the mesh purchase.
thanks in advance for your help!!

@Edbaba simplest approach is to use the Sky hub with its wifi switched off and connect the X60 in access point mode. Otherwise you can buy a unit like the TD-W9970 you mention and set it up in modem mode see https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1332/. The W9970 should have a preset for your Sky FTTC service.

Now, before I put it in access point mode, the deco still worked in router mode. Why do I need to put it in access point mode, sorry for ignorance!

@Edbaba if the Deco works well in Router mode leave it. QOS logically requires the unit to be acting as the router. Certainly my Deco app lacks the set up option .shown here https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1601/

If however you hit issues then you can switch to AP mode if required.

Hopevtgst helps.

So it works fine with w9970 acting as modem/router and deco x60 either in ap mode or router mode.

But I'd like w9970 in bridge mode.

when I put it in bridge mode it doesn't have an internet connection and I can't find anywhere in the x60 menu to add in the sky login details or anything.
alpologies if I'm being an idiot!

I wasnt aware that the Deco system supported Sky fibre.

If it does it'll be something called DHCP OPtion 61 in the WAN settings
