Every time I turn on my wi-fi I keep getting this message from McAffee security protection. I then have to disconnect from sky wi-fi.

What is the problem?

Unfortunately difficult to know: actual 'attacks' on WiFi are vanishingly rare and 'security' products trade on hysterical warnings to attempt to justify their ongoing cost.

If the Sky Hub is a current model running its default settings then it's secure for all practical purposes unless you've really annoyed a rogue nation state recently.

Is the McAfee product an up to date one with a current subscription?

There are references online to previous McAfee versions generating false positive alerts.

Thanks Tim.

This started to happen before the renewal was due. Also I bought a wi-fi extender But couldn't understand how to set its PIN, but connected it to my Hub via internet which I thought would be alright as it comes up secured.

Do you think it's the lack of PIN?

Many thanks .

There are certainly circumstances in which an 'extender' could cause alerts to be generated, either spurious or genuine.

You definitely wouldn't want the WiFi coming from an extender to be unencrypted. It's also theoretically possible for Powerline network communication to 'leak' over mains cabling to neighbouring properties.
