PlayStation remote won’t connect

My son got a PlayStation backbone for Christmas but it won't connect when he is away from the house. I've done everything in terms of the iPhone and the PlayStation, I can only think that it is a problem with the router/wifi? Any advice would be very welcome!

@EmilyPantry there doesn't appear to be any need to open firewall ports on the Sky hub to get remote play to work which is the feature the backbone controller uses. Check the console has remote play enabled and is powered. See here https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/games/ps4-remote-play-connection-troubleshooting/#prepare for futher help.
