Speedtests are over WiFi with the Ookla app on iPhone. Our PS5 is connected via Ethernet using a power line adapter and only registers speeds of 30mps download. I know those adapters are unreliable though. I had a feeling it was something we were doing wrong at our end...I've been testing with over 6 devices attached.

Testing with Wireless or/and Homeplugs is not going to get you Gbps speeds, even the latest Sky Max Hub won't achieve those speeds over wireless.

Only reliable method of checking speeds at the Gbps level is over a direct wired ethernet connection with a device with SSD, fast processor and Gbps ethernet port.

Looking at the router stats it is achieving the Gbps speed over the fibre itself without issue, and really those speed are for busy lots of device connecting and working concurrently.

It's hard for us to check wired Ethernet speeds as none of our bloomin' devices have an Ethernet port any more!

It was worthwhile for me as it enabled my gaming pc to connect at double the speed that it did previously

whereas downstairs in the same room as the hub I get 890 upstairs and at the opposite end of the house I know get around 600 a big boost from the 200-250 I got before

eith full fibre there are other options available without the extra monthly cost of upgrading to the max

if you are not using the hub for making calls you may benefit more by using a third party hub and there are examples of these in other posts, places like pc world have a money back guarantee on the routers and WiFi boosters/extenders as they don't always work

with WiFi I think I comes down to finding the sweet spot between performance vs expectations by getting something that you and anyone else in the house are happy with

@OKCommuter whether it is worth upgrading depends on what speeds your devices need in practice. There is a lot of hype about everyone needing Gigabit speeds on devices while in practice very few devices can actually use speeds much over 200Mb/s. Some examples streaming Ultra High definition video at the highest quality uses under 50Mb/s, on line gaming under 10Mb/s etc etc. Downloads can benefit from higher bandwidth if the server allows which many dont. The main reason for buying a Gigabit connection is it allows more bandwidth for multiple users.

In my experience the SR203 which is a wifi 5 device can deliver over 500Mb/s in my main ooen plan living area where the unit is siruated dropping to 100Mb/s 2 to 3 rooms away. The new Wifi Max SR213 hub can deliver 900Mb/s in thecsame area near the hub but dropping to similar speeds as the old hub in the more distant rooms. Note you only get the hugher speeds from the SR213 on devices equipped with wifi 6 chips.

Your current speed tests indicate your SR203 is not performing to its potential. To get the best results from any wifi router make sure the unit is in the open and above obstructions like radiators. You can move the hub further from the ONT by using a longer ethernet cable you dont require anything special Cat5e is ample.
