The Sky Q boxes use a proprietary wireless mesh it won't work with third-party equipment except for 2.4Ghz from the main Sky Q box which is pretty useless, powerline ethernet homeplugs would be the best bet for connecting the Sky Q main box if you cannot run an ethernet cable.

I seem to have encountered an issue that after trying multiple different scenarios to troubleshoot I have failed to be able to rectify.

At a glance, the setup is:

Sky SR203 Broadband Router -> Connected to Openreach ONT for FTTP -> Wifi Disabled

TP-Link Archer C64 used in AP Mode for Wifi

Sky Q Main Box + 1 Mini

Sky Ultrafast Plus (500Mbps)

The main reason for this setup is the SR203 router is not strong enough to provide good connection speed and strength across the house - it is a medium sized house with some brick walls in between.

Admittedly there are far better options out there than the C64 but using this to test as more of a proof of concept/a stopgap, and from a wifi point of view whilst by no means perfect it is already an improvement over the SR203's offering.

The main issue is not with the Wifi itself - the connection seems to be stable and speeds are noticeably better from the AP, but despite trying everything previously mentioned in multiple other articles in the Sky Community forums, I cannot seem to get the Sky Q boxes to connect to the AP.

The initial connection is successful (either by choosing the Router from another provider/Sky Broadband Router options) however after about a minute it drops out, and flips back to the old SSID from the SR203. Nothing I have been able to try so far has got this working.

Unfortunately Ethernet/Powerline is currently not an option, so looking to see if there are any other fixes for this or whether this is a common issue.

Alternatively, use a full third-party wireless mesh and connect by ethernet each mesh node(s) to the Sky Q boxes.
