Sound control Sony TV

I have an older Sony Bravia TV (KD-49XD8305). When setting up the Sky Stream remote, I can select the correct TV model from the list, but none of the sound control options work. Is there any workaround to get the volume controls working?

Thanks for reaching out. If you've selected the correct Sony Bravia model but none of the volume control options work, it usually means the remote hasn't been able to find a compatible control profile for that TV.

Before exploring any alternatives, please try resetting and repairing the remote again using the steps below:

To pair your Sky Stream remote to your TV:

Press and hold 1 and 3 together on your Sky remote for 3 seconds.
Wait until you see the connected message and select Continue.

If it's still not working:

Press and hold 7 and 9 together on your Sky remote for 3 seconds to reset it.
Press and hold 1 and 3 together for 3 seconds.
Follow the on-screen instructions and test the volume controls when prompted.

If you've already completed these steps and the volume controls still don't work, please let us know:

Whether you're using your TV's built-in speakers or a soundbar/audio system.
If the volume buttons work with the original Sony remote.
Whether any error messages appear during setup.

I’m using the TV’s built-in speakers.
The volume buttons work correctly with the original Sony remote.

I’ve tried going through the setup process again, but unfortunately, the result is the same. The Sky Stream remote works fine, but I’m still unable to control the TV’s volume with it.

When you follow the repair and setup steps, are you advised that the remote is successfully connected once the process completes?

For example, do you see a message confirming that the remote is paired and connected to the TV, but the volume controls still don't work, or does the setup fail at a specific stage?
