I have ordered an extra puck ( we have whole home currently using 2 pucks) with the intention of connecting to a projector for outside viewing ( just outside the house) I have a budget of about £300 can anyone recommend a suitable projector? I have been told that I need to have a minimum of 2500 ANSI to use in daylight

I dont think that projectors are used as much in Home settings due to TVs being avaible in much bigger sizes, however my friend works in IT and fits projectors at schools and used to have one in his home set up, i'll ask him for some recommendations and then get back to you.

If you're planning on using a Stream puck outside the house then make sure that it can receive a strong enough WiFi signal or get a long ethernet cable. Also make sure that the projector you get is capable of accepting an HDCP protected HDMI input from the puck.

Some projectors have their own operating system and apps built-in (Roku have just released one) which negate the need for any other device to be attached to it. Some also run Android apps so theoretically you may not need a puck if you can stream the games live on iPlayer, ITVX, TNT Sports or whatever.

Most of the World Cup matches are being played quite late in the evening UK time so it won't be bright sunlight. You may get away with a less bright projector.

You won't get a fully featured 4K projector with the level of brightness you mention, but you might get a reasonable 1080P one for £300. Also factor in that you'll want to get audio out there too. Some projectors have speakers built in but they tend to be very poor. Look for one that has Bluetooth capability to connect an external Bluetooth speaker (if you have one).

Blimey I wouldn't recommend watching ITV through the ITVX app, it'll look pretty ropey on a big projected screen.

Thank you for your advise, Shows my ignorance, I thought would be on sky 😩 but as my hubby is a lover of all sports I think he will still enjoy matches /games that are shown on sky even if not any good for BBC or ITV

The FIFA World Cup is one of the few remaining international sports tournaments which is completely 'protected' in the UK, meaning it has to be on free-to-air channels.

Regarding your actual query, I suspect £300 is rather optimistic for a projector which can properly handle colour, brightness and constant complex motion (a critical factor in sports viewing) : there are however a lot of truly rubbish ones around these days, so I'd suggest looking for independent reviews before purchasing.
