When you say the decoded sound isn't being sent to the correct speakers, what are you hearing?

In the early days of owning Sky Stream, I'd occasionally get the the front L & R channels only from an Atmos/7.1/5.1 feed being seen by my Denon AVR. The AVR would then apply Dolby Surround (formerly Pro Logic) decoded to the two channels and I'd get audio with no dialogue due to there being no centre channel in the incoming bitstream.

Or are you get a 2 channel mix down of everything being received by your AVR?

Given you are using your TV as the switching device, is the firmware/software updates up to date? (Apologies if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs here).

You could try setting the HDMI audio output on your Sky Stream box from the default Auto to Dolby Digital Plus, which should cut out the HDMI handshake/capabiliilty negotiation step, in case either your TV or AVR is proving a response the Sky Stream puck is unable to handle.

Hi

thanks for your reply

I have tried all of your suggestions

The tv software is up to date

the avr software is the latest version pioneer provided.

I've been through the tv settings and the puck settings a number of times and even did a factory reset to the puck with no change.

I can't justify buying a new avr mainly on cost grounds and especially as other inputs are decoding properly

The Passthrough audio option should, as it says, pass the unprocessed audio bitstream out via HDMI for external decoding is about the only other lever left to pull.

Is the issue present on all content, both Sky's own and any of the apps/services you might use, or is the issue related only to one or two content providers on the puck?

Thank again

the sound issue is on all services from the puck.

im going to repeat the factory reset on the puck and do the same on the tv and avr to see if that does anything but I'm not holding my breath as it works fine with the freesat and fire stick

thanks again for your time
