Hello,

Having given up battling with a totally stupid, unresponsive AI ClodBot, I'm hoping that someone knows the answer to what is a simple question?

Why does the HDMI cable supplied with the Sky Stream puck have one end pink?

Does the pink end go into the puck, or into the TV?

@Tsunchke Sky's video guide shows the cable having both ends pink! It doesn't matter which way round you connect it - pink to Puck or pink to TV.

I've been battling with Sky for some weeks re drop-outs in the stream and this morning spoke to an 'expert' [self-styled technical one . . . ] who made it clear that I had to use the HDMI cable supplied by Sky, because the one I'm using - it's 'generic' as referred to in other posts as being perfectly fine [who's telling the truth?] so, inspecting the supplied cable to discover one pink end made me naturally question why, as I've had many years experience with high-end electronics [NOT using HDMI cables] that It clearly said 'there's a reason for this' to me.

Why Sky should make such a fuss, when all your community colleagues disagree, makes me wonder how Sky ever got this far - **bleep** baffles brains, no doubt! Being run by an American doesn't help!

Multiple generations of Sky television hardware have had sockets marked with different colours: this is just to facilitate easy to understand instructions.

"pink cable end to pink socket" rather than "HDMI cable end to HDMI socket"

To be fair, HDMI standards aren't entirely straightforward. The key point is that everything before the 2.0 version doesn't support 4K at 60Hz which a puck outputs as 'UHD'.

It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference which way round the supplied HDMI cable goes.

Only expensive active HDMI cables are directional and can only send signals one way. The Sky branded cables are basic mass-produced high speed cables so can be connected in any way.
