For anyone in the future reading this, I ended up buying the TCL C7K in 75".

after 48 hours of using all I can do is say WOW.

The picture quality is incredible, I was worried about HD upscaling but it is brilliant, especially on ITV strangely enough.

Sky Sports UHD channels are brilliant, albeit HLG does make the screen go initially darker but not like my old Samsung used to go dark and washed out, it's purposefully done to make colours stand out and the F1 for example is brilliant.

people online moan about the set up process but mine took no more than 5 mins and I already have a Gmail so I think that may have helped.

all in all, it's not OLED, it's never going to be OLED but for £999 for a 75", it's brilliantly good value. The screen brightness does need tweaking, it's so bright that in a dark room it could become overwhelming but a simple switch of settings covers that.

Hi everyone, just posting to see if anyone has a TCL TV and how it works with Sky Sports UHD? Currently have a Samsung with a peak brightness of 350nits and the UHD picture is awful and dull.

I'm looking to see if any TVL models work well with UHD.... the Q7C (C7K) advertises peak brightness up to 2500 nits so in theory should work but don't want to get burned again.

Image quality can appear dull with UHD content which has HDR

The TCL Q7C is a mini-LED model with a very high peak brightness of up to 3000 nits so you should get excellent HDR performance. It supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ as well as HLG so you have all bases covered for HDR.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I mean the HLG/HDR input, I just meant the UHD sports channels specifically. My current Samsung is great on Netflix HDR etc, but really struggles when it moves to HLG for the UHD sports channels. It's advertised at 2000 nits, but hoping someone out there has first hand experience before I buy a new TV a year after buying our current one.

DU7100. When we moved into our new house, I needed a 75" tv and just purchased one which advertised 4K UHD, HDR, HLG etc at a half decent price. I thought it would be good and apart from Sky HDR content using HLG it is great but sports and HDR UHD content like White Lotus it just can't handle it with the peak brightness too low.

whats also frustrating is Sky advertise the need for 25MB download speed and a HLG comparable TV, nowhere on their web site or in the T&C's does it state the need for a TV with peak brightness of 1000nits. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there in my position and out of pocket because Sky don't mention that.

They can say they are compatible with all the HDR formats in the world... but they don't say if they'll be any good.

Internal apps on such TVs can look OK because they can force the panel and picture settings to use every ounce of brightness available. Devices connected via HDMI don't necessarily do the same. With HLG HDR, the device will detect what the peak brightness of the display it is attached to is during the HDMI handshake. It will then adjust HDR output accordingly. If it only detects 200nits then it's not going to show HLG very well.

I would agree with others - if you want the best possible image quality then save up for a bit longer and get an OLED. You can't fail to be impressed by the picture they can produce.

Appreciate that OLED is always going to be best, equally the financial side is a factor. The cheapest 75" LG OLED is the B4, on sale at £1800 and only gives up to 700nits, so knowing Sky HDR uses up to 1000, would that even display properly on that TV?

Whereas there's multiple comparisons on the internet showing the difference is slightly visible but not significant when comparing to the C5. The TCL has a peak brightness up to 3000nits and costs £950 at AO currently. That has to be a factor.

If you watch a lot of TV in daylight with lots of windows nearby then a punchy LCD with a high peak brightness is probably your best bet.

We don't tend to watch TV during the day, mostly evenings in quite a dark room, so OLED suits us perfectly. Blacks are truly black with no LCD 'glow' turning them slightly grey. This isn't something you'd notice on an LCD in a brighter room though.

From the outside looking in, it looks a very solid option. Obviously no idea about longevity of the TV, but at that price, you could buy two TCL TV's over 7/8 years and still have change vs a C5.
