My parents have just moved to a property that has no fibre broadband, looking to get sky stream installed., mainly due sport for my dad . Will I have to get a 4g or 5g broadband service installed to allow streaming. Someone has said about plugging router into phone line, but I can't see how this would work and if speeds would be high enough

@Rosie215 VDSL or FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) will work as long as speeds are greater than 50mbps , if you post the house number and postcode here you'll be provided with the results of speeds available.

If you can post an image of the results removing any address/cabinet data before doing so the community can advise better.

@Rosie215 Is there no other products above FTTP On Demand?

If not the speeds offered over ADSL are too low to provide Sky stream.

@GD1 Unfortunately there is nothing above FTTP on demand. That's disappointing! I assume the only option then is to get a 4G/5G home broadband and stream from that?

Only if it meets minimum speeds:

Sky Glass works over broadband, so there’s no Sky dish needed.

Minimum recommended broadband speeds apply and might change depending on your package. We’ll recommend these before you place your order.

You may need faster speeds to get the best experience. Especially when watching in UHD or streaming on more devices at the same time with the Whole Home pack. For more info, see Broadband speeds explained. We also recommend a fibre broadband connection.

If you’re with another provider, you'll need to check your broadband speeds with them.

Recommended minimum broadband speed of 25Mbps. Or 30Mbps if you add an extra Sky Stream puck or to watch in UHD.

That above is just the Openreach offerings, like Sky or EE etc.

Is there no Virgin or Altnet fibre offerings or even the Sky Cityfibre offerings in the area.

Put your postcode into this Ofcom broadband checker.

As well as showing the available Openreach speed offerings, look at the Networks in your area rail lower down, where it may show Virgin and altnet providers offering a faster fibre service.
